Remembering my Yaya (Grandmother) on Halloween.

Remembering my Yaya (Grandmother) on Halloween.

Man alive, the comments keep coming in on the Facebook version of the blog (same content) on the relationship issue I posted this past Friday (What’s Love Got To Do With It?, Oct. 23).  I guess that’s one that touches a lot of us!  Thank you for engaging to such an enthusiastic extent.  I decided that I’m going to make the Friday GPK Challenge about relationships every week for a while and see what you think of that.

Which frees us up a bit to continue with the Halloween Blog Lite theme for a day or two longer.  Along that line, we had a really funny response regarding Halloween costumes yesterday (see  Blog Lite, Oct. 26 comments).  Soooo, let’s keep sharing the funniest, strangest, craziest costumes AND also share Best and Worst trick or treat items received of all time and what that makes you think of!

For me, my favorite Halloween score was a one-pound Hershey’s Chocolate with Almonds!  My Yaya (that’s Greek for Grandmother) used to keep them aside. When my sisters and I – and eventually my younger cousins too – would stop to see my Grandparents and ring their doorbell, she’d make the biggest fuss over our costumes and drop these enormous blocks of chocolate into our pillow cases!  My friends just thought that was the coolest thing.

What was your favorite Halloween score?  Worst?  (Did you hate it when you’d get like 3 pennies or an apple?)  Be honest…

Engage, think, share!

Peace and Gratitude,

  10. Anything Full Size

  1. Candy Corn (yes it made both lists LOL)
  2. Circus Peanuts

  7. Plain Hershey’s

  1. WOW, candy corn is among the worst? They are my favoritist! I still can’t buy a full bag, cause I’ll eat it and believe me when I say a sugar hi as an adult does NOT feel the same as when your kid!

  2. I loved getting the homemade popcorn that the Rainville family gave out. This was back in the day of jiffy pop… no microwave poporn… and my family NEVER made popcorn!
My pillowcase of candy did not smell just right until that popcorn was added to the mix.
Also, I actually liked that old Mr. Hoffman gave out dimes… then I could buy my own candy at the local convience store. And now you all know what generation I belong to!
