If not now, when? If not you, who?

Election Day! Exercise your most valuable franchise!

This is what political folks call an “off year” election.  You hear people say it’s not important to vote because the President isn’t running.  I’m not so sure about that.  I might even go so far to say that it’s more important to vote in off year elections because it is in these elections that we decide who runs our government closest to us!

Thomas Phillip “Tip” O’Neill, Jr., the outspoken congressman said “all politics is local” and I agree.  If we don’t participate in local elections we relinquish our most influential ability to take part in our government.  We also relinquish our right to whine about things when they’re not done properly!  😉  Many people say “why should I vote, my vote won’t count for much.”  It is in local elections that your vote counts the MOST!

One vote in a presidential election may make the difference in a local district.  In the national scheme of things this may or may not end up swaying the outcome on a large scale.  In a local election, however, one vote in one district can carry an entire race.

Go to the polls today.  Cast your vote.  Make your opinion heard by choosing your government.  Then, get involved.  Do something about something you care about!

If not you, who?  If not now, when?

Engage, think, share!

Peace and gratitude,
