Gotta love those Canadian cancer researchers!

Good news for us, bad news for cancer.  Some Canadian scientists figured out that breast cancer cells mutate as the disease progresses.  The older the cancer, the more mutations.  Pretty cool discovery.  It leads me to wonder about my own Leukemia.  My doctors believed that I was diagnosed as long as a year into the disease.  Perhaps it actually made the treatment more effective?  Kinda cool to think about.  Although I think I was pretty lucky to not have succumbed to any number of things in that time.  A motorcycle accident in which I could have fallen to infection, a couple bouts with the flu, etc.

The next step may be to figure out how to capitalize on that process.  If we can figure out a way to have cancer mutate itself into a state in which it transitions out of the body before doing too much damage, we could avoid a whole lot of pain and suffering.  This “little” observation could hold a significant key to our ongoing efforts to master this dreaded disease.  Certainly, as the article suggests, knowing this could help us treat diseases differently at different stages of progression.  It may help us be more effective in our treatment!

It’s an interesting article…

Engage, think, share what you think!

Peace and Gratitude,
